SANE Australia's content processes

Hi there,

This is a post to share with you all how SANE Australia creates its content. SANE has a variety of content across their site. Ranging from factsheets through to blogs and the stories of people impacted by mental illness.

Factsheets and guides: This section is to provide either an overview or in depth information about certain mental health conditions. It is written by and in consultation with mental health professionals. Once a draft is complete, they are peer reviewed, (here is an example)  and once the feedback is integrated, it is reviewed again by mental health professional before going live.

Blogs: Blogs are based on topical discussions or coincide with national awareness days (eg: Mental health week). Sometimes they are written by guest bloggers, sometimes by people with a lived experience, carers or from mental health professionals.

Your questions answered: This is a section that we created late last year that we're looking to continue to grow. Some of you may remember a call out we did asking people either burning questions they have about MH or questions they frequently get asked about mental health. We collated the questions and put the most frequently asked out to the SANE Ambassador to answer from their perspective. So each question has a response from someone with lived experience, a carer and a mental health professional. (see more here)

Living Stories: SANE has an Ambassador program, one of their roles is as a speaker. They have raised their hands to speak about their lived experience. Some of them have volunteered to share their stories on the SANE website (see more here).

All medical and health-related information published by SANE Australia has been reviewed and approved by appropriately qualified medical practitioners, as well as SANE's Clinical Advisory Group and people living with mental illness or carers (unless otherwise stated).

Readers concerned about information or advice published on sane.org can raise concerns via, content@sane.org.
