Loneliness

Hi all I would like to share so of my coping strategies the main one is creative writing my most recent one is below. Please forgive the grammar.

The Forgotten Hero

There he stands a weary centurion,

a lone sentinel forged from bone holding the line for humanity.

He watches from the edges where the light falters where the world forgets

its protectors.

No one sees him.

No one asks his name.

Yet he is always there

the moment they call as he always has been, as he always will be bound by oath by duty by something older than choice.

He stands against every storm though each one leaves a mark another line etched into his skin another memory he never asked for.

Runes carved by suffering, scars glowing faintly like embers in the dark. His skin is a map of battles no mortal remembers etched with the weight of every life he could not save.

He wages war against sickness, against death against the endless tide that hungers for the living.

But those he once loved have turned away, their backs to a man reaching out for help.

They leave him standing alone in the cold and the darkness surrounded by people yet somehow unseen. He has bled to keep them breathing. Now he stands abandoned in a night older than language, a solitary guardian.

He walks that darkness now its reluctant king, a forgotten hero, a relic of torment that never ends. His shadow stretches long across the void, and though no one sees him, he still holds the line,  quietly so others do not fall.

The forgotten.

The unnoticed.

The unthanked.

But unbroken protection for everyone but himself.
