Let's all make a giantic leap from my daughter's pink penguins to other family humour

My son was very literal and the English Idiom was something he did not understand

So - a group of us were discussing a birthday party and let it slip and said "Whoops - I have let the cat out of the bag"

My son was on the floor crawling around and we asked

"WHAT on earth are you doing down there?"

"I'm looking for the cat"

Okay - I can keep going with these little stories for as long as it takes - but I would love to hear other people's

Cat asleep on the chair. Children (teens) had to poke and prod.

Cat slept.

They poked and prodded more, but still the cat slept.

They lifted legs, and they dropped, cat sound asleep.

Prod again.

Cat claws and teeth instantly wrapped around hand and arm.

Obviously it is better to let sleeping cats lie

I hope the prodders and pokers learned a lesson from this episode

@Decadian , no, they didn't. Was a cat they just had to push 😄

Next generation as bad.

2yo walks past cat (different cat) sleeping on a chair and pushes it off.

Some time later, 2yo playing on floor, and cat quietly walks straight up behind him, squats on back legs, gives half a dozen or so whacks with paws, and takes off.

Child turns around suddenly, sort of shocked. 😄

Reminded me of the time I was sitting at the sewing machine doing some mending with several young children running around I exclaimed "l,ve lost my patience" One child started looking in my sewing box. I asked what he was looking for and replied "what is your patience" I agree we need some more humour.

And naturally it has reminded me of my 15 year old son reading the paper one morning - hence the following exhange

"Dad - what's Lime Light?"

"Ah - what makes you ask?"

"Well - it says here - this girl stole Boy George's Lime Light - how many years will she get Dad"
