Hi @heartathome , @DownMoreThanUp , @Appleblossom , @ENKELI , @tyme , @REDLINEZ750 , @MissGremlin , @Shaz51 ,
Hebrews 11
- Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.
- It was by faith our ancestors obtained God's approval.
- By faith we understand the universe was created by the word of God.
- By faith Abel offered a better sacrifice than Cain.
- By faith Enoch was taken to heaven.
- Without faith it is impossible to please God - must believe He exists and rewards those who seek Him.
- By faith Noah built an ark to save his family.
- By faith Abraham set out for a place he was going to get as an inheritance.
- By faith Sarah conceived a child when she was past the age of childbearing.
- These all died in faith, although they had not received the things that were promised. But they saw them from a distance, greeted them, and confessed they were foreigners and temporary residents on the earth.
- They desire a better place - a heavenly one.
- Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.
- By faith Abraham offered up Isaac.
- By faith Isaac and Jacob blessed their descendants.
- By faith Joseph mentioned the exodus and gave instructions concerning his bones.
- By faith Moses' parents hid him for three months.
- By faith Moses refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing the Israelites instead.
- By faith Moses instituted the Passover.
- By faith the Israelites crossed the Red Sea.
- By faith the walls of Jericho fell.
- By faith Rahab the prostitute welcomed the spies.
- Many more examples of faith mentioned.
- All of these were approved through their faith, but they did not receive what was promised.
- God had provided something better - they would not be made perfect without us.
Hebrews 12
- Therefore since we have such a large crowd of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us.
- Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us.
- Keeping our eyes on Jesus - the source and perfecter of our faith.
- For the joy that lay before Him, He endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
- Endure suffering as discipline - God is dealing with you as children.
- Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness.
- Make sure that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no root of bitterness springs up, causing trouble and defiling many.
- You have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God (the heavenly Jerusalem), to myriads of angels, a festive gathering, to the assembly of the firstborn whose names have been written in heaven, to a Judge, who is God of all, to the spirits of righteous people made perfect, and to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, . . .
Hebrews 13
- Let love continue.
- Offer hospitality.
- Remember those suffering.
- Honour marriage.
- Keep your life free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have, for He Himself has said, "I will never leave you or abandon you."
- "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"
- Remember your leaders who have spoken God's word to you.
- Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
- Let us continually offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of lips that confess His name.
- Don't neglect to do what is good, and to share.
- Obey your leaders.
- Pray for your leaders.
- Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus - the great Shepherd of the sheep - through the blood of the everlasting covenant, equip you with everything good to do His will, working in us what is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
- Grace be with you all.
From Hebrews 12: "You have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God (the heavenly Jerusalem), to myriads of angels, a festive gathering, to the assembly of the firstborn whose names have been written in heaven, to a Judge, who is God of all, to the spirits of righteous people made perfect, and to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, . . ." I'm a bit shy to be good at parties but I'm sure I will enjoy the party at Mount Zion!

@Realness "Remember your leaders who have spoken God's word to you."
I think this is such an important text. And so often totally misunderstood by struggling believers.

@ENKELI Thanks! Good to have at least a few supporter so far my wife, and two friends also enjoyed reading it. Could you let me know if you feel something is not clear or to vague please? No pressure just if that happens.

@Appleblossom Yep! My sister came for a six month holiday with her friend. This was a few weeks before she returned back. So her and her boyfriend took the time to show me around the place. Handy coming in a new Town. Stayed there for six months but was forced to leave, as the PM who was in power at the time left us with hardly any work where we had with a dead economy and a huge debt. (the PM got court with his pens down and was replaced soon thereafter, that brought us better times.) So i moved to the big city where i met my wife soon thereafter at Church. Although we didn't start dating till the Easter holidays next year April.
A story worth retelling as well, it was an weekend full of adventure as well as love - a love still alive although shaken to its core in both.

Lies Take Love Away.
God's truth alone liberates from living lies
For liars are always condemned by their lies.
The Word reveals when untruth rules minds,
angry hearts grow more loveless every day.
For love cannot breathe where truth is denied.
Lies ruling life bring much suffering and misery.
Yet we all know suffering life never feels good,
for lies cruelly keep people divided even in misery,
lets feed everlasting anger against all falsehood
Where truth plainly spoken lays lies ruling to rest.
For i know where His truth is Alive,
love will grow our life anew.
The truth always rejoices in the death of lies,
for then loving life can breathe freely again.

@DownMoreThanUp I would appreciate if you kept politics out of your post, otherwise if you must talk in a negative fashion about a politician don't tag me. I am not interested in inflammatory BS such as this. Regardless of party.

Just letting everyone know our Christian thread is unlocked.
I know it's an important support to all of us - there are times when I think it offers crucial timely support.
We are so blessed to have this place where we can talk about Jesus.
