My 2026 plan

I'm just processing my goals. Feel free to share your goals for 2026

One is to finish resolving an ongoing debate with my psychologist about language. She is big on rejecting Labels. Both in terms of Clinical Language, and in the sense that Eugene Gendlin described Labels as the opposite of describing it freshly in each fluid moment

Second is to at least hear out professionals on why they think that the NDIS would benefit me. Not necessarily to sign up. But this year, I will endeavour to at least listen to their point of view

I have a jaded history with the NDIS. They signed me up without my consent in 2018. I was not a child, I was 39 years old. Then in 2022, the hospital tried to coerce me onto the scheme

Also do a CCMP for my prediabetes

...............

So that's my plan for 2026. I'm open to others sharing theirs, or commenting on mine. I mostly just wanted to type this out

@DogMan79

I had the same dilemma regarding Label.

But I figured it really depends on how you are using it. I use it as a tool to understand myself better and it helps me to accept myself as who I am. Label also works like hashtags that helps to find useful resources for self improvement.

To me Label are just label, they are neutral.

Like Orange is orange.

Hello @DogMan79 , @Mrs_Fix

My 2026 plan  is to delay kidney dialysis as long as I can

@AuntGlow , this is the thread

Re: My 2026 plan

I saw you over on the coffee thread @DogMan79

i also dont totally get the tagging culture here... probaby means its not very fixed, so hoping there's enough goodwill  for people to adapt and adjust

labels and words... what is neutral and what could be triggering

I think its great you have a plan for 2026

I am starting to develop my own... its more about priorities than doing the whole SMART goals thingummy

Happy to talk about NDIS if you want....

take care

Bloody NDIS. Are you a participant?

In 2018, when I was signed up, they said someone filled out a referral and listed my mum as an approved contact

I don't answer my phone, so they just kept ringing mum. And mum went along with it, believing that she was helping. But she never mentioned it (We didn't communicate a lot in general) to me, until I was signed up

I have an email somewhere from an apparent big boss of the NDIA apologising

But since mum's death last year, I have ceased most human contact. I see my psychologist, my GP & his nurse for my depot. Rarely anyone else. And I somewhat fail at maintaining my unit. I've been homeless numerous times, and don't want to go back to that

By all accounts, the NDIS are not as coercive as they previously were

@Appleblossom (I almost tagged others, who have participated in this thread. But it's obviously not high on any priority lists, with how long it sat)

Re: My 2026 plan

the support button is on the blink again

twas working yesterday

I loved that you introduced me to E Gendlin ...

I like the concept of the philosophy of the implicit.... and from wiki...Gendlin is best known for Focusing, a psychotherapy technique, and for "Thinking at the Edge", a general procedure for "thinking with more than patterns"... i will return to him....

I am glad there are a few humans in your life even if they are paid. I hope they earn their bikkies and do right by you with a bit of client centred care.

Keep chipping away at your unit.

@DogMan79

Yes I have personal and carer experience with NDIS and am interested in hearing viewpoints

That you describe them as coercive.... hmmmm.... makes sense why my son didnt like them

He feels  better without their controlling non comprehending help. I accept him on a zero dollars plan, but we did discuss the recent court finding re pepper spray... hmmm... Sir Robert Peel... wrote about appropriate use of force for crime prevention.... hmmm... mental health is not adequately dealt with.... these days the services seem to have forgotten that...I quietly note... who gets away with what

My family has dealt with severe Mental illness since the 1960s.  Both parents, 2 siblings, ex husband, son, to name a few...I was homeless at 6 and 16. Its not nice, however there was also a lot of love and capacity...

Who knows the normal way to be in such circumstances?

So, yes, now I am the participant. Guess I am not that proud. It was necessary for the preservation of life.  We have had enough premature deaths... many on the so called services property...

recently I told a prosecutor I am on NDIS because of police brutality... it is a new insight for me...but the chronology fits

last week... session with LAC... trying to get my plan to reflect the truth... get the names right etcetc...he doesnt have good enough English for his job, but is very good with copy and paste... problem... is he doesnt read what he is pasting.... so that is a pretty poor standard for govt "paperwork"

I used to be an editor for a court... hmmm...

it takes time and tagging to get many responses on the forum... but I was not into excessive tagging... making it a numbers game more than personal...

i try and add a personal touch to posts and responses

take care

Re: My 2026 plan

Thank you for sharing! I love goal-setting. @DogMan79 🤩

What would resolving this ongoing debate look like for you?

I understand why you would feel some resistance to getting on board with NDIS after this experience. I think researching why it could work for you, is a great idea. That way you can connect with your own sense of choice and agency.

The CCMP is also a great idea to access more ongoing support. 👏

Good on you!! Do you have any self-care/personal goals too?
